Michael B. Brooks holds his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law, of Malibu, California, having a course of study that included the Intellectual Property Summer Institute of the Franklin Pierce Law Center of Concord, New Hampshire. He is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of California , the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

 

Dr. Brooks holds BS, MS & PhD degrees in engineering from the UCLA School of Engineering and Applied Science, and is registered in the state of California as a Professional Electrical Engineer.

Dr. Brooks was Adjunct Professor of Patent Law, Spring 2011 and Spring 2010, Pepperdine University School of Law. He is presently Adjunct Professor of Patent Law for the Spring 2012 semester at PUSOL.

Dr. Brooks has extensive experience in the research and development of advanced avionics, particularly advanced control and estimation systems, digital signal processing, and complex algorithmic processes. While leading advanced technology development teams, Michael Brooks was concurrently a Howard Hughes Fellow pursuing his PhD at UCLA, and later Dr. Brooks added a part-time Assistant Professorship of Engineering with California State University , Northridge, while continuing with Hughes Aircraft's rich tradition of advanced technological developments. Prior to founding the Firm in the year 2000, he was the General Counsel for what was then one of America's fastest growing privately-held corporations, itself successfully performing and expanding with Small Business Innovative Research contracts and international Technology Research and Development Programs.

As a professional electrical engineer and patent attorney, Dr. Brooks is a senior member of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He is also a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He is a member of national professional legal associations including the American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Dr. Brooks actively participates in furthering excellence in intellectual property practice as a member of the Ventura County Bar Association and the San Fernando Valley Bar Association.
